It’s summer time and the kids are out of school! This can be an exciting time of year because there are so many fun things to do with the kiddos. Not having to worry about taking the kids out of school makes it an optimal time to have fun with the family. However, there is just one problem with vacations and that’s the fact that you’re leaving the house alone unattended. This of course is especially important if you have pet that needs to be taken care of. So how do you go about getting a house sitter when you’re out of options regarding friends and family?

There are websites out there for you to get a house sitter if you can’t get a family or friend to do the job. There are different types of sitters you can get that will vary in cost. It depends on how far you want to go in ensuring that you’re getting a trustworthy person to house and/or pet sit. There are some websites that all you need is a driver’s license and a good recommendation. If you want someone who you can count on to not have a past that you don’t know about then you might need to pay up. There are sitters that you can get that have gone through an identity and background check.

When interviewing a pet sitter or house sitter you need to make sure that you pay attention to the questions that they ask. You want someone who is concerned for your pets and home and know will make them happy. There is nothing worse than worrying about your pets while trying to enjoy your vacation. In addition to this you’ll want to do some digging. There is nothing wrong with a little social media “stalking” to see what the person is all about. You don’t want to come home to find out there has been a party while you’ve been home. Make sure that after you’ve picked out the right sitter for you, you clearly go through your expectations.

Although you may not want a party happening at your house while you’re gone you do want to make sure that you have something to offer the house sitter. This is their job, this is their life. Their living is going from house to house so make sure that you’ve got something to offer them. This would include WiFi and some space to work.
