Fall Planting
There are only a few weeks left of the summer. The weather is starting to get a little colder and fall will be here soon! For those who love beautiful spring flowers, fall is the time to plant your bulbs. The question is what are bulbs? What kind of bulbs can you plant? And how do you plant them? We will go through a couple of tips so that you will have the perfect spring flowers! A flower bulb is a structure that is layered with carbohydrates and inside there is a plant core. The layers of a bulb are the basal plate, fleshy layers and then outer skin. The basal plate is where the root grows throughout the winter so that they can sprout in the spring. They then flower throughout the summer and make for the perfect garden that you will love to sit and enjoy. There are many different types of bulbs that can be planted for beautiful spring flowers so you’ll want to decide on how you want your garden to look. Make a plan by laying out what flowers you’re going to want. Keep in mind that you’ll be planting other plants in the spring so you’ll want to make sure there is good flow throughout your garden. This will take planning and preparation but will look beautiful once it’s all complete. Here are some plant bulbs that you can choose from: You want to first start by picking good bulbs. You don’t want them moldy or mushy. You want to make sure that they are big and firm. Then remember that the bulb will fail if they are planted in the wrong place. They need to get at least 6 hours of direct sunlight in a day and have well draining soil. So when you are planning your garden make sure that you take note where the sun is hitting and for how long. In addition to these tips make sure to read the instructions on them for how far down to plant them and when to plant them. Summer has only a couple weeks left!
